Mr. Patrick Beckley, Executive Chairman of Energy Services Company in his short statement thanked stakeholders for the
long preparation. He assured a quality delivery of the project and that in line with the local content policy of government,
the construction of Bumbuna Phase II will provide an estimated 2500 jobs and the project upon completion will add 143
Megawatts of power capacity to the national grid.
Mr. Cyril Grant, the Project Manager delivered an impressive power point presentation on the Bumbuna II project and
described the project as a befitting legacy of President Koroma.

The Minister of Energy, Amb Macauley has on Friday 4th August 2017 submitted signed project documents to President
Koroma on the commencement of Bumbuna Phase II Hydro project, after the official signing with Joule Afica and other
The documents were signed at a ceremony attended by the HE Ernest Bai Koroma, Vice President Foh, cabinet ministers,
senior government officials, paramount chiefs of the project area as well as officials of Joule Africa and Seli Hydro Power.
The signing took place at State House where President Koroma urged Joule Africa that the 143MW hydro dam must be
completed against the 4 years slated time, drawing attention to the experience learned from the Bumbuna Phase I Project
which was signed in the early 70's and only commissioned on November 8, 2009. He also stressed on quality job as the
people are in desperate need of electricity adding that the project will be closely monitored by all Sierra Leoneans. The
Head of State also reminded the local chiefs and the District Council to provide proper sensitization to their people on the
relocation process as he promised that his successor will ensure that this project upholds.
The Minister of Energy before handing over the signed documents explained the mandate of his ministry and thanked the
president for his continued support.
